Building a new extension

We loved our house from the first time we went through, but it really didn't have enough living space. We have worked on improving the layout of the home and increasing the living area of the home to create a modern and more pleasant layout to the home. We are really proud of how the job has turned out and we wanted to share some of the details of how the extension and layout changes where designed and constructed. This blog has some of the photos of our extension as well as tips that we have learnt along the journey,.

Avoid DIY Disasters by Bringing in Expert Building Assistance

Construction & Contractors Blog

It's often tempting to carry out home renovations and repairs yourself. At first glance, it looks like going it alone can save you money, provide complete creative control and be a rewarding experience. But that's just at first glance. When you actually get bogged down in the project itself, things can start to become a whole lot more complex.

DIY projects have a habit of becoming domestic disasters. That's not to say you shouldn't carry out the work yourself. If you have the skills, go ahead. Just don't assume that you are qualified to build a pool house because you once installed a set of shelves. All too often, the end result is hefty builders fees and stress. Much of the time, it would have been better to call in the experts at the start.

If you are contemplating a home redesign, think twice before you plough ahead. Here are some examples of projects that generally benefit from an expert builder's skills.

Knocking Through Interior Walls

This one won't just drain your finances if you get it wrong, it can also be a serious health hazard. People often need to make extra space in their living rooms or kitchens by removing interior walls. Old-fashioned homes tend to have more walls and smaller rooms, while the trend in recent years has been towards spacious open-plan designs. That's great, but not if you remove supporting walls when you open up your interior. Hiring expert builders is a much safer way to make your spaces more comfortable, without bringing the house down.

Ensuring that Exterior Walls Insulate Properly

External walls are just as critical for your home. Experts will be able to build extensions or replace old walls safely and can install the right kind of insulation. This is particularly important in neighbourhoods with a high concentration of timber walled homes, which may require specialist installation techniques. Done properly, wall insulation can make your home a cooler place to relax in summer and cosier in parts of the country with cool winter temperatures. Done badly, it will add little to your home apart from extra energy bills.

Adding a Gorgeous Gazebo to Your Garden

Projects for the home aren't the only possible DIY nightmares. What you hope will be a stunning summer house can swiftly become a pile of wood with no hope of completion. Gazebos generally come in flat pack kits with hundreds of components and complicated plans that need to be followed precisely. You need to build solid foundations and have the right power tools and the time to put everything together. If it goes wrong, high winds can easily tear off the roof and bring the whole thing crashing down.

Whether you want to add a gazebo, remodel your walls or knock through to create more room in your home, doing things yourself isn't always the best option. If you want to save time and avoid construction disasters, bringing in expert builders is often a much safer choice.
