Building a new extension

We loved our house from the first time we went through, but it really didn't have enough living space. We have worked on improving the layout of the home and increasing the living area of the home to create a modern and more pleasant layout to the home. We are really proud of how the job has turned out and we wanted to share some of the details of how the extension and layout changes where designed and constructed. This blog has some of the photos of our extension as well as tips that we have learnt along the journey,.

Easy Tips to Getting a Better View from Your Patio

A patio is one priceless home asset that provides you with solace after a busy day's work. The evening is a good time to reminisce, and the last thing you need is an intrusive neighbor. Improving the privacy of your home should be a top priority to ensure you chill while basking in the evening breeze. A few easy-to-do tips should give you some peace of mind and transform your patio into your favorite chill spot.

Add some garden greenery

What better way to improve your privacy than to add a natural touch that will blend in with the surrounding? Grab some containers you tucked away in your store and transform them into planters. Wooden crates placed on your fence wall will not only provide you with extra planting space for your favorite salads, but they will also block out prying eyes. To top it all, create a hanging garden by reusing food cans you no longer need.

Plant a living screen

Create a narrow strip next to the fence wall and plant a row of bamboo shoots to create an attractive barrier. You can obtain these from your local nursery, who will advise you on how to tend to them to maturity. However, there's a catch here; your bamboo wall can get intrusive due to overgrowth. Use a root barrier to constrict the growth of the shoots to uncontrollable levels.

Consider using a fabric screen

A fabric screen fitted on the fence wall will give you better assurance, as it will provide you with privacy and at the same time give you a good view of the clear skies. Choose a monotone or complementing colors of fabric and fit them at a suitable height to give you much needed privacy. The screens will contrast well against the walled garden and enhance the feel of the space.

Easy-to-adjust window treatments

Window treatments are easy to use, easy to adjust solutions to giving you better privacy. Consider fitting patio blinds that complement the color of your outdoor furniture. Alternatively, draperies of contrasting color will bring out the beauty of your patio while blocking out intense sunlight.

Create an area of interest

Creating a focal point in your garden can be an exciting activity. Just gather your family and brainstorm on the endless possibilities that will enliven your boring afternoons. Purchase some calabashes and a fountain supply kit to create your water feature to add some buzz to your garden. Grab an old tree stump from your yard and place a sculpture on top to add to the interest. Strings of lights or paper lanterns will complement this, and enhance the mood of your patio.
